The Yard is Appledore’s fun place to dine. Mark and Janine lovingly restored this 15th century coaching inn, opening the wine bar in May 2021. With an eclectic menu offering the finest food, an extensive wine list and a social conscience – the team support a number of local and national charities – a visit is highly recommended. There is also live music from local musicians on some evenings. Dog Friendly.

The Yard is named after the nearby Appledore Shipyard. It’s located on the site of the Coach and Horses Inn, built in the 15th century to serve the monastery at the top of Appledore. Until it closed down in 2017, the Coach and Horses used to host regular concerts and featured prominently in the now-defunct Appledore Rocks web site, which you can learn more about here.
