Simon Spillett – presented by North Devon Jazz Club

MASTER SAXOPHONIST AT THE BEAVER

Blistering, award-winning saxophonist Simon Spillett will perform a gig at North Devon Jazz Club at The Beaver, Appledore on 16 November.

Dubbed ‘extraordinarily talented’ by Jazzwise Magazine, Spillett displays (in the words of Jazz UK magazine) an ‘instrumental facility and creative fecundity’ in his playing, while Observer jazz critic Dave Gelly wrote ‘ Those of us who have caught him …have been left blinking in disbelief. It’s not only his mastery of the tenor saxophone …but the ‘absolute conviction of his playing that is so impressive.’

Performing in a post-bop style very much influenced by his hero, the late, great UK saxophonist Tubby Hayes, Simon Spillett will be joined for the gig by the Ronnie Jones Trio.

The gig starts at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Thank you NDJC. There is no entrance fee, however a collection is taken for the band. For a meal booking please phone The Beaver on 01237 474822
