Harry Dowell Quartet – presented by North Devon Jazz Club
Exeter-based saxophonist Harry Dowell brings his quartet to North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore on 2nd November. The quartet’s previous appearance at the venue was a memorable tribute to the late John Coltrane but this time the band will perform a mix of original material, jazz standards and numbers by Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker..
Harry is a multi-instrumentalist, whose instruments include saxophones, flute, clarinet, oboe and guitar. His musical experiences range from orchestras and jazz ensembles to party gigs and theatre work. Harry also composes for orchestra, big bands and various small ensembles. Highlights of his career are performing at the Houses of Parliament and Montreux Jazz Festival. Harry’s improvisational style balances thoughtful melodic creativity with ambitious spontaneity.
The gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Keep up the good work NDJC. There is no entrance fee, however a collection is taken for the band. For a meal booking phone The Beaver on 01237 474822.
