STAR TRIO AT THE BEAVER
Award-winning double bass player Alec Dankworth, the son of the late Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, will join vibraphonist Roger Beaujolais and guitarist Neil Burns to perform a gig on 9th June at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore.
As one of the UK’s leading bassists Alec has had an impressive career including stints in the Dave Brubeck Quartet, with Van Morrison and with the notorious Ginger Baker of “Cream” fame, among many other collaborations with many of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. He is also a prolific composer and bandleader in his own right.
Vibes player Roger Beaujolais is known for his long career as a jazz musician, based in London and working internationally. Along with a string of high profile session work Roger has performed and recorded with many big names, including Robert Plant, Neneh Cherry, Morrissey, Paul Weller, Roni Size, Kirsty MacColl, and Tony Allen as well as releasing many albums under his own leadership.
Scottish Guitarist Neil Burns has been immersed in the south west jazz scene for many years and has accompanied many top players on tours in the region. His a funky, bluesy, bebop style is steeped in the jazz guitar tradition, heavily influenced by the great Grant Green.
