MILES DAVIS TRIBUTE AT BEAVER
American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis became one of the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz. Pioneering the bebop style alongside Charlie Parker, Davis went on to record the most popular jazz record of all time, Kind of Blue, and continued being an artistic innovator throughout his life with a lasting impact on many musicians to this day. On 28th April trumpeter Sam Massey will join a trio at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore to perform pieces composed by Miles Davis, such as All Blues and Stella by Starlight.
Described by The Guardian as a ‘fine trumpet player’ Sam Massey has performed alongside top-class musicians from across the UK, including the legendary Devon-based bandleader Mike Westbrook and Radio 2 favourite Clare Teal. As a performer, arranger and composer, he and his music have been broadcast on numerous BBC, Jazz FM and RAI (Italy) programmes and Sam is found on critically acclaimed albums by artists such as American soul singer PP Arnold and ska band The Simmertones.
The gig is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Thank you NDJC. There is no entrance fee, however a collection is taken for the band. For a meal booking please phone The Beaver on 01237 474822
