SOULFUL SINGER AT THE BEAVER
Singer Sarah Harris will be next up at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore. Appearing on 16th February Sarah Harris will be joined by Drummer Ronnie Jones, pianist Will Butterworth and bassist Marcus Vergette to form the Sarah Harris Quartet.
After a successful performing career in Brighton, including being a regular on the Brighton jazz scene, Sarah moved to South Devon and is now making her mark in the south west. Sarah has also worked with nationally-recognised groups such as Urban Voices Collective and The Dap Kings (backing Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones). Sarah is Influenced by, among others, Jeff Buckley, Etta James,Carmen McRae and Aretha Franklin and she brings a fresh and soulful approach to jazz.
Pianist Will Butterworth has worked with many of the UK’s finest musicians, has played on many albums as a side man and released five albums which have achieved critical acclaim. To quote All About Jazz Butterworth is ‘a musician of flair, intelligence and a huge technical facility.’.
Drummer Ronnie Jones has established a reputation as a highly original, inventive drummer.
As well as his trio and quartet he plays in pianist John Horler’s Celebrating Bill Evans’ Trio which recently played three sold-out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Club.
The fine bass player Marcus Vergette is a stalwart of the south-west jazz scene. He is also a distinguished sculptor, having contributed the Time and Tide bell which is situated on the Churchfield’s slip in Appledore.
