JUST EAST OF JAZZ AT THE BEAVER
Appearing at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore on 27th April will be Just East of Jazz. Back in the 1990s the band pioneered the incorporation of East European and Middle Eastern musical influences in to jazz but has since developed a unique sound which seamlessly links composition and improvisation. To quote Jazzwise Magazine the band’s music is ‘a restlessly virtuosic display of exceptionally punchy rhythmic precision and tight but flighty improvisation” while The Guardian wrote that the band is ‘one of the more unusual world-jazz ensembles…the authority and energy of the group has been growing over the years, and they have long been a vivacious proposition live.’
The band will be at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore on 27th April. As well as the core line-up of saxophonist Jeremy Shoham, percussionist Rick Finlay and bassist Phil Scragg, the band will include the addition of keyboard wizard Danny Manners whose musical background includes a lengthy period with award-winning prog rock band Big Big Train.
