Taking its name and inspiration from an Alan Ginsberg poem entitled Howl, the Howl Quartet will play a gig at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver Appledore on 10th November.
Formed in 2017 and led by the saxophonists Harry Brunt and Dan Smith the quartet emphasises storytelling through melodic composition and improvisation. Reviewing the band’s album Airglow UK Vibe called it a “diverse, dynamic and richly rewarding listen’ and stated that ‘Airglow is a great example of how jazz in the 21st century is well and truly alive and kicking” while Jazzwise wrote “Often beguiling…an assured statement of identity from a band that has very much found its feet.”
