Bruce Adams – presented by North Devon Jazz Club
TOP-FLIGHT JAZZ TRUMPETER AT THE BEAVER
Top-flight trumpeter Bruce Adams is special guest at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore on 24 November. He will join superb saxophonist Martin Dale and quartet to perform an evening of fiery bop-based jazz.
Born in Glasgow Bruce Adams is a veteran of the UK jazz scene. Given a trumpet at 11 years he was performing his first gig within a few months. There followed a diverse career, ranging from a winning appearance on Opportunity Knocks, a spell in Canada, work on the QE2 and gigs with big bands which led to him winning the best soloist prize in the BBC Big Band Competition.
Bruce has played all over the world with such jazz greats as Benny Carter, Buddy Tate and Bob Wilbur and he has won the UK Top Trumpet prize three times. Writing in The Daily Telegraph critic Martin Gayford commented that “Adams performs with boppy zip and, when appropriate, a nice, dirty low down feeling”.
