DESCRIPTION:Mike Outram is a British guitarist and improviser. He has performed and recorded with artists such as Steven Wilson\, Tim Garland\, Donny McCaslin\, Till Brönner\, Gareth Lockrane\, Carleen Anderson\, Theo Travis\, Martin Speake\, Robert Fripp\, Laurence Cottle\, Julian Siegel\, Tony Remy\, Herbie Mann\, Steve Buckley\, Tim Ries\, Nikki Iles\, Hamish Stuart\, Trish Clowes\, Gerard Presencer\, and Laura Rossi\, appearing on over a hundred and fifty recordings across jazz\, contemporary\, and progressive music. He teaches at the Royal Academy of Music\, Trinity Laban\, and The Guildhall\, London. \nMike was due to play with saxophonist Steve Buckley. Unfortunately Steve had to withdraw due to illness so Mike is leading the band.  \nThe gig starts at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Thank you NDJC. There is no entrance fee. DESCRIPTION:For everyone who loves live music and intelligent song writing\, Nick Parker is coming to St Mary’s Hall in Appledore on Friday 9th January. Click here to buy tickets. It’s an all seated gig.  \nNick embarked on a solo career and has toured extensively\, releasing five full-length albums along the way\, many songs from which have been featured on BBC Radio 6 Music among many other radio stations. Nick is a regular at UK festivals including Beautiful Days. \nNick’s songs are often tongue-in-cheek and cheerful\, and on the rare occasion when fun IS poked (usually at himself) it is always with a wry smile and an element of satire. The audience are often encouraged to be a part of the show\, from holding up lyrics or creating sound effects\, to providing basslines or collectively being Nick’s duet partner. \nNick often plays with his band ‘Nick Parker and the False Alarms’ which is a folky/rocky/country affair using guitars\, fiddle\, pedal steel\, banjo\, mandolin\, cornet\, accordion\, keys\, whistles\, pipes\, bass and drums.
