DESCRIPTION:Italian Saxophonist Joins Top UK Pianist \nItalian saxophonist Roberto Manzin will join a trio led by top UK pianist Jonathan Gee at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 14th April. \nWith a technique described by Time Out as ‘scorching’ Manzin has received rave reviews for his playing. Jazzwise Magazine recommended him as ‘ to be heard to be believed’ and ‘as a melodist first and foremost\, who gradually unfolds a solo and builds up to a compelling conclusion’ while London Jazz described his playing as having ‘something of the chromatic excitement of (Michael) Brecker and the soulfulness of (David) Sanborn’. \nPianist Jonathan Gee has been praised by the Independent as a  ‘reflective\, beautifully poised pianist’ \, by Time Out as ‘sparky and sensitive’  and by Jazzwise Magazine for ‘his breathlessly sparkling originality’. \nThe two musicians will be joined by the fine rhythm team of Marcus Vergette on bass and Louie North on drums. \nThe gig is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. DESCRIPTION:MILES DAVIS TRIBUTE AT BEAVER \nAmerican jazz trumpeter Miles Davis became one of the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz. Pioneering the bebop style alongside Charlie Parker\, Davis went on to record the most popular jazz record of all time\, Kind of Blue\, and continued being an artistic innovator throughout his life with a lasting impact on many musicians to this day. On 28th April trumpeter Sam Massey will join a trio at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore to perform pieces composed by Miles Davis\, such as  All Blues and  Stella by Starlight. \nDescribed by The Guardian as a ‘fine trumpet player’ Sam Massey has performed alongside top-class musicians from across the UK\, including the legendary Devon-based bandleader Mike Westbrook and Radio 2 favourite Clare Teal. As a performer\, arranger and composer\, he and his music have been broadcast on numerous BBC\, Jazz FM and RAI (Italy) programmes and Sam is found on critically acclaimed albums by artists such as American soul singer PP Arnold and ska band The Simmertones. \nThe gig is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club.
