He has collaborated with notable artists and ensembles\, including Andy Sheppard’s Hotel Bristol and Emily Wright & The Royals\, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the jazz genre. \nAs a leading figure in the “Music of Pat Metheny” project\, Matt performs alongside acclaimed pianist Dave Newton\, delivering interpretations that capture the essence of Metheny’s work. His role in the Hopkins-Hammond Trio further highlights his adaptability\, blending guitar seamlessly with organ and drums to explore the dynamic range of the organ trio format. \nMatt will appear at North Devon Jazz Club at The Beaver\, Appledore on 3 March together with  phenomenal pianist Andy Nowak and  fine double bass player Kevin Sanders. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. DESCRIPTION:TRIBUTE TO OSCAR PETERSON AT BEAVER \nThe late\, great pianist Oscar Peterson will be the subject of a tribute evening when top UK pianist Craig Milverton performs with his trio at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on  17th March. \nCanadian-born Peterson\, who was born one hundred years ago\,  was the recipient of  eight  Grammy Awards and made over 200 recordings  in a 60 year career\, playing mainly in a trio setting. Influenced by such greats as Teddy Wilson\, James P. Johnson and particularly Art Tatum\, he was\, according to the singer/pianist Ray Charles\, the only pianist who ever came near to Tatum’s technical genius. \nCraig Milverton was awarded UK Jazz Pianist of the Year in 2010 and  is a regular member of Digby Fairweather’s band as well as featuring with many other top musicians. Digby Fairweather has praised Craig as ‘Britain’s nearest to Oscar Peterson’ while Cadence Magazine stated that Craig is  ‘a hard swinging pianist whose chops certainly bring to mind the great Oscar Peterson’ . \nAt the  gig the trio will perform a show which highlights all the great recordings of Peterson\, from his biggest hit ‘Tenderly’\, to his best selling album ‘Night Train’. \nFind out more at craigmilverton.co.uk. \nThe gig is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. DESCRIPTION:All aboard the good ship Black Friday – join her crew and captain Tom for another stormy crossing of the Celtic sea of folk-punk. We don’t know where we’re going and we don’t know when we’ll get there but we’ll have some fun along the way… \nThe six strong\, unstoppable Black Friday play a foot-stomping mix of high energy\, home-brew folk-punk and celtic tunes\, travelling across Cornwall and lands far beyond. They have had crowds jumping at some of Europe’s biggest festivals\, including Glastonbury\, Boomtown\, Donau-insel fest and Electric Picnic. They have recorded a live BBC session at Maida Vale Studios and broken a Guinness world record – 30 gigs in 12 hours! \nTheir music is influenced by their Irish and Cornish roots and their folk heroes. Catchy original songs and take on folk favourites by the likes of Flogging Molly and the Pogues will keep you dancing all night. \nThis event is in St Mary’s Hall and costs £10 advance or £14 on the door. A bar will be available. Tickets can be purchased via Free of Tiger Events.

Rated as one of the finest saxophonists in the UK Derek Nash also accompanies many artists such as Tom Jones\, Eric Clapton\, Paul McCartney and Gregory Porter. Derek is also a prolific composer for TV and radio as well as various jazz ensembles and he has received several awards for his musicianship. The Observer praised his ‘bravura display of contemporary saxophone’ while The Sunday Times described his playing as ‘breathtaking’. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club.
