DESCRIPTION:STAR TRIO AT THE BEAVER \nAward-winning double bass player Alec Dankworth\,  the son of  the late Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine\, will  join vibraphonist Roger Beaujolais and guitarist Neil Burns to perform a gig on 9th June at  North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore. \n As one of the UK’s leading bassists Alec has had an impressive career including  stints in the Dave Brubeck Quartet\, with Van Morrison  and with the notorious Ginger Baker of “Cream” fame\, among many other collaborations with many of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. He is also a prolific composer and bandleader in his own right. \nVibes player Roger Beaujolais is known for his long career as a jazz musician\, based in London and working internationally. Along with a string of high profile session work Roger has performed and recorded with many big names\, including Robert Plant\, Neneh Cherry\, Morrissey\, Paul Weller\, Roni Size\, Kirsty MacColl\, and Tony Allen as well as releasing many albums under his own leadership. \nScottish Guitarist Neil Burns has been immersed in the south west jazz scene for many years and has accompanied many top players on tours in the region. His a funky\, bluesy\, bebop style  is steeped in the jazz guitar tradition\, heavily influenced by the great Grant Green. \nThe gig starts at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. She plays honky tonk and Southern funk and blues\, always looking like she loves to play more than anything else. Her warmth and enthusiasm is catching. \nJim Crawford is one of the best-known musicians in the Appledore area. Originally from Lancashire\, he now resides in the heart of Appledore. Despite his great skill on the guitar\, he is a humble man who loves fishing with his dog for company. He has toured much of Europe and the States captivating audiences with his intimate folk/blues style.

DESCRIPTION:WORLD-CLASS TRUMPETER AT THE BEAVER \nByron Wallen\, a musician described by Jazzwise Magazine as ‘one of the most innovative\, exciting and original trumpet players alive’\, will appear at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on Monday 1st September with the Craig Milverton Trio.\n Byron was born in to a musical family and after learning piano and euphonium at an early age he went to New York to study trumpet with such American  greats as Donald Byrd and Jimmy Owens. Byron then started a glowing musical career\, playing with Courtney Pine and Jean Toussaint and many American musicians\, including David Murray\, Billy Higgins\, Wynton Marsalis and George Benson.\nByron has visited many countries in the world to perform with local musicians\, especially in countries of Africa. As a writer he has composed scores for film and theatre and as an educator he holds several teaching posts including at London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
