DESCRIPTION:INTERNATIONAL BAND AT THE BEAVER \nA band characterised by an international line-up and an unusual variety of instruments will perform at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 20th April. The Transatlantic Hot Club are made up of harpist Ben Creighton Griffiths\, bassist Ashley John Long  ( both from Wales)\,  violinist/vocalist Adrien Chevalier from New York and accordionist Jeremy Lohier from Corsica. \nThe band will play an exciting mix of swing classics\, Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli standards\, Corsican song and Latin Bossa Nova.  \nThe gig starts at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. SUMMARY:Domingo Caramelo
DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy! \nThis is an Appledore Music Festival pre-festival gig.

DESCRIPTION:JUST EAST OF JAZZ AT THE BEAVER \nAppearing at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 27th April will be  Just East of Jazz. Back in the 1990s the band pioneered the incorporation of East European and Middle Eastern musical influences in to jazz but has since developed a unique sound which seamlessly links composition and improvisation. To quote Jazzwise Magazine the band’s music is ‘a restlessly virtuosic display of exceptionally punchy rhythmic precision and tight but flighty improvisation”  while The Guardian wrote that the band is  ‘one of the more unusual world-jazz ensembles…the authority and energy of the group has been growing over the years\, and they have long been a vivacious proposition live.’ \nThe band will be at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 27th April. DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy!
