Her debut album “Glitterwoods’ was named Album of the Year  by UK Vibe and her latest album ‘Thrive’ won Jazz Recording of The Year at the 2025 Presto Music Awards . On 19 October she will be appearing with her quartet at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore. \nWith fluid\, expressive piano playing and emotive vocals\, Fabienne’s sound is lyrical and rich in detail\, drawing inspiration from both the natural world and urban life. Marked by compelling rhythms and influences\, ranging from blues and Brahms to The Beatles\, the band creates music that is daring yet intimate and truly its own. To quote Jazzwise Magazine “Ambuehl crafts a mesmerising soundscape that seamlessly blends songs and instrumentals’ while critic Nick Lea in Jazzviews UK praised Ambuehl ‘as a fine pianist\, wonderful singer and a composer of note.’ \nCompleting the quartet will be the top rank guitarist Ant Law\, multi-award winning bassist Ewan Hastie and excellent drummer Jon Scott. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy! \nThis is an Appledore Music Festival pre-festival gig.

SUMMARY:Harry Dowell Quartet - presented by North Devon Jazz Club
DESCRIPTION:Exeter-based saxophonist Harry Dowell brings his quartet to North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 2nd November. The quartet’s previous appearance at the venue was a memorable tribute to the late John Coltrane but this time the band will perform a mix of original material\, jazz standards and numbers by Chick Corea\, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker..  \nHarry is a multi-instrumentalist\, whose instruments include  saxophones\, flute\, clarinet\, oboe and guitar. His musical experiences range from orchestras and jazz ensembles to party gigs and theatre work. Harry also composes for orchestra\, big bands and various small ensembles. Highlights of his career are performing at the Houses of Parliament and Montreux Jazz Festival. Harry’s improvisational style balances thoughtful melodic creativity with ambitious spontaneity. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Keep up the good work NDJC.
