She is performing with musicians Andy Hamill bass Dominic Ashworth guitar and Andrea Trillo drums  \nAfter developing her singing style in Australia and a pending time in Singapore Karen moved to the UK in 1999 where has she has performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club\, the Pizza Express Jazz Club and London Jazz Festival and also venues all over the world.\nJazz critic Dave Gelly wrote in The Observer ‘ I know of no one else who sings with what I can only describe as her demure abandon. It is wholehearted but at the same time restrained. Precisely phrased but not over-studied\, a fine and distinctive singer.’\nAt The Beaver gig Karen will sing a mix of standards and Brazilian songs\, including the songs of Tom Jobim\, who created the sound of bossa nova and co-wrote The Girl from Ipanema. DESCRIPTION:The legendary pianist Bill Evans was groundbreaking in his contribution to the development of jazz. On 13 June pianist John Horler will be at North Devon Jazz Club at The Beaver\, Appledore with drummer Ronnie Jones and bassist Ron Phelan to pay homage to the great man and the other wonderful musicians (Scott La Faro and Paul Motion) in Bill Evans’ classic trio.\nRated by The Observer as ‘one of the finest jazz pianists that Britain has ever produced’ John Horler was accompanist for Dame Cleo Laine for twenty years. He is also a former member of Sir John Dankworth’s bands and has performed with many of the greats of modern jazz including Art Farmer\, Chet Baker\, Zoot Sims\, Maynard Ferguson\, Tony Coe\, Ronnie Ross\, Pete King\, Kenny Wheeler and Tommy Whittle. \nThe music and musicianship of Bill Evans has left an indelible impression on John and his career\, even inspiring him to become a jazz musician. Talking about Bill Evans John says he embraced “the music of European composers Debussy\, Ravel and even Brahms\, which he welded into his own very special jazz language…. Emma Rawicz is an award winning young saxophonist and composer who grew up in North Devon. \nShe has created a name for herself both as a bandleader and a sideman\, regularly playing at major London jazz venues with a wide range of established musicians. Emma is a recipient of the 2021 Drake Yolanda Award. Emma’s influences range from modern jazz and fusion to folk and soul\, key figures in her musical development including Chris Potter\, Ari Hoenig\, Kenny Jarrett\, Joe Henderson\, Chick Corea and more.   \nEmma is a natural performer. Her music has a unique sound\, fusing all her many influences\, and her compositions range from lilting Afro Cuban inspired grooves to hard hitting modern jazz and funk numbers. \nThe gig is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club.
