DESCRIPTION:WORLD-CLASS TRUMPETER AT THE BEAVER \nByron Wallen\, a musician described by Jazzwise Magazine as ‘one of the most innovative\, exciting and original trumpet players alive’\, will appear at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on Monday 1st September with the Craig Milverton Trio.\n Byron was born in to a musical family and after learning piano and euphonium at an early age he went to New York to study trumpet with such American  greats as Donald Byrd and Jimmy Owens. Byron then started a glowing musical career\, playing with Courtney Pine and Jean Toussaint and many American musicians\, including David Murray\, Billy Higgins\, Wynton Marsalis and George Benson.\nByron has visited many countries in the world to perform with local musicians\, especially in countries of Africa. As a writer he has composed scores for film and theatre and as an educator he holds several teaching posts including at London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. His several awards include Best Band and Best Album in the 2007 BBC Jazz Awards and Best Jazz Act in the 2007 MOBO Awards. \ntarget=”_blank”>North Devon Jazz Club. Thank you NDJC. She has been described as ‘deeply soulful\, wonderfully honest’ by The Times\, and by Jazzwise Magazine as possessing ‘ that rare ability to meld effortless\, often transcendent\, vocal and piano technique\, with heart stopping emotion and soul bearing power’. \nAccompanying herself in a rollicking\, bluesy piano style Liane has enthralled audiences at Ronnie Scott’s Club\, Pizza Express\, Glastonbury Festival\, the Proms and many other venues in the UK and abroad. \nLiane will be joined by her husband Roger Carey who is bass guitarist with Steeleye Span.  \nThe gig starts at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club.
