On 19 October she will be appearing with her quartet at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore. \nWith fluid\, expressive piano playing and emotive vocals\, Fabienne’s sound is lyrical and rich in detail\, drawing inspiration from both the natural world and urban life. Marked by compelling rhythms and influences\, ranging from blues and Brahms to The Beatles\, the band creates music that is daring yet intimate and truly its own. To quote Jazzwise Magazine “Ambuehl crafts a mesmerising soundscape that seamlessly blends songs and instrumentals’ while critic Nick Lea in Jazzviews UK praised Ambuehl ‘as a fine pianist\, wonderful singer and a composer of note.’ \nCompleting the quartet will be the top rank guitarist Ant Law\, multi-award winning bassist Ewan Hastie and excellent drummer Jon Scott. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. SUMMARY:Domingo Caramelo
DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy! \nThis is an Appledore Music Festival pre-festival gig.

DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy!

DESCRIPTION:On the second Tuesday of every other month Appledore’s own sea shanty ensemble\, the Applecorers\, perform at the Beaver. The Applecorers sing traditional sea shanties. It is easy to imagine\, listening to this choir\, the days when Appledore’s streets were full of sailors and shipbuilders. Their rousing songs of the sea will lift your spirits and warm your heart.
