DESCRIPTION:Appledore’s own sea shanty ensemble\, the Applecorers\, are poerforming at the Maritime Museum. The Applecorers sing traditional sea shanties. It is easy to imagine\, listening to this choir\, the days when Appledore’s streets were full of sailors and shipbuilders. Their rousing songs of the sea will lift your spirits and warm your heart. \nThis concert is taking place during the Appledore Book Festival.

DESCRIPTION:The Champ hosts a “Sunday Nice” session on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday every month. Domingo Caramelo kicked off these sessions in June 2023 and they’re back. Despite being a quartet they bill themselves as “Domingo Caramelo Trio” which is one of many enigmas about this wonderful jazz band. Domingo Caramelo consists of Dayle on bass\, Rob Norris on keys\, Jon Gillies on sax and Jim Blofeld on drums. Their repertoire includes jazz standards such asMisty\, Autumn Leaves and Over the Rainbow \nThe band name\, which means Sunday sweet in Spanish\, combined with a picture of John Thomson in his Louis “Niiiice” Balfour guise on the poster\, hints at an irreverent approach but that should not be mistaken for a lack of finesse. These guys are superb musicians.  Enjoy!
