SUMMARY:You are Here - North Devon Jazz Club
DESCRIPTION:You Are Here is a new sextet formed by Bristol-based saxophonist and composer Kevin Figes to play the music of the late Keith Tippett and the bands and music he was associated with. The band will appear at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver\, Appledore on 6 January and will feature trumpeter Pete Judge\, trombonist Ralph Clarkson and pianist Jim Blomfield. \nPraised by Jazzwise Magazine for “many moments of unleashed creative inspiration and original musical joy” the sextet will perform a selection of Tippett’s epic compositions alongside those of Elton Dean from Soft Machine and Chris McGregor’s work with Brotherhood of Breath\, harking back to the exciting period in the 1960s when exiled South African musicians settled in the UK and enlivened the jazz scene. \nThe gig is at 8:30pm and is hosted by the North Devon Jazz Club. Keep up the good work NDJC. There is no entrance fee\, however a collection is taken for the band. \nFor a meal booking phone The Beaver on 01237 474822.
